The liveaboard at a glance

The M/Y Argo Xplorer is a mid-range liveaboard from the experienced French operator Xplorer Aquarius Safari. The 42-meter-long ship has 13 cabins and can accommodate a maximum of 25 guests. It was put into operation in September 2023 after a complete renovation. The architecture of the ship is unusual, but proves to be particularly functional in practice: while the majority of cabins on liveaboard ships (especially in Egypt) are typically located on the lower deck, all cabins on the M/Y Argo Xplorer are arranged on the main and upper deck. The cozy, air-conditioned salon, equipped with modern entertainment electronics, is located on the main deck, while the dining room is on the lower deck.

Catering on board consists of full board with Egyptian and international dishes served buffet style. Water, tea, coffee, soft drinks and bottled juices are included, while local alcoholic drinks are sold on board. Hot and cold drinks are available at the bar in the open lounge area of the saloon. Sun-seeking guests will appreciate the 145 m² sun deck equipped with loungers and seating. Of this, 85 m² are shaded and 60 m² are without sun protection. Wifi can be used free of charge on board if a signal is available.

The cabins

Of the 13 spacious cabins on the M/Y Argo Xplorer, eight with two single beds and two suites with a double bed are located on the main deck and three cabins (one with single beds, one single cabin with one bed and another suite with a double bed) are located on the upper deck. All cabins are individually air-conditioned and have a minibar and a bathroom with shower/WC.

The diving operation

The very spacious and functional dive deck of the M/Y Argo Xplorer offers plenty of room so that you never feel cramped, even when the boat is fully occupied. Underwater photographers will find plenty of space at the camera table to service their equipment. There are two sinks and two showers. At least 16 dives are carried out on the weekly tours. Often there are more, if logistics and weather conditions are favorable. The dives either start directly from the dive deck or the divers are taken to the dive sites in the two 7.5 meter modern inflatable boats. Nitrox is free of charge on board the Golden M/Y Argo Xplorer with the appropriate certification.

Date, route & solar eclipse

Embarkation: on 29.07.2027 in Port Ghalib near Marsa Alam.

Disembarkation: on 05.08.2027 in Port Ghalib near Marsa Alam.

Route & solar eclipse: We have planned a St. Johns Tour. On August 2nd, 2027, the day of the solar eclipse of the century, the ship will anchor at a reef system directly along the central line of the totality zone, southeast of Berenice. The length of the total phase there will be an extraordinary 6 minutes & 20 seconds, only three seconds less than the maximum of totality in the desert southeast of the Upper Egyptian city of Luxor. The event will last approximately 2 hours & 45 minutes from the beginning of the partial eclipse.

You have the truly unique opportunity to experience the solar eclipse in combination with an underwater dive, or you can observe this extremely rare phenomenon on the sun deck of the ship.
