The Noble Tombs (also known as the Theban Tombs) is a collection of over 400 tombs in an extensive necropolis not far from the Valley of the Kings. Buried in these tombs were some of the powerful courtiers and personalities of the ancient city of Thebes. The tombs in the necropolis date from different eras, ranging from the Old Kingdom to the 26th Dynasty. Some of the individual tombs contain very elaborate wall paintings that are exemplary of ancient Egyptian art. The tombs of Sennefer (also known as the "Grapevine Tomb"), Pashedu, Menna and Nakht are particularly noteworthy in this context.
