Nile cruise on board the Dahabeya Ghaby Beh

The Dahabeya at a glance

The 55-metre-long Dahabeya Ghaby Beh has nine spacious suites, all located on the main deck and offering space for a maximum of 18 guests. In contrast to numerous "pseudo" Dahabeyas, which are motorized (with corresponding noise pollution), the Dahabeya Malika has no engines. It moves forward under sail, drifts downstream if necessary or is discreetly towed by an escort boat in calm or unfavorable wind conditions.

The upper deck

There is also an air-conditioned saloon on the main deck, where meals can be served. However, meals are usually served on the large shaded upper deck, where there is also comfortable seating for relaxing. Most of the dishes served are Egyptian and are prepared daily using fresh ingredients from the villages along the Nile. There is also a bar on the upper deck with a selection of drinks. Local beer and wine are served for a fee. The power supply on board is provided by generators located on the accompanying tugboat. Wifi is available on board free of charge.

The cabins

The cabins on the Dahabeya Ghaby Beh are larger than average at around 18 m² (they are as spacious as suites on most other Dahabeyas) and are simply but comfortably furnished. The beds are made with Egyptian cotton sheets. All cabins have air conditioning and a fan, their own spacious bathroom with shower/WC and high-quality towels and there is plenty of storage space in each cabin. All cabins have a large window. There are five cabins with two single beds each and four cabins with a double bed.

Date, route & solar eclipse

Embarkation: on 27.07.2027 in Aswan.

Disembarkation: on 03.08.2027 in Luxor.

Route & solar eclipse: A Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor is planned (the itinerary can be found under "Nile cruises"). On August 02, 2027, the day of the solar eclipse of the century, the ship will anchor about 5 kilometers north of Luxor, on the west bank close to the central line of the totality zone, where the length of the total phase is an extraordinary 6 minutes & 22 seconds. This is only one second less than the maximum of the eclipse in the desert southeast of Luxor. The event will last approximately 2 hours & 45 minutes from the start of the partial eclipse.

Experience this astronomical phenomenon of the century on the upper deck of the Dahabeya or on the west bank of the Nile, in a garden rented exclusively for our guests, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the anchorage.

Eye protection: Observing a solar eclipse without protective filters (solar eclipse glasses) can lead to serious and permanent damage to the eyes, including blindness. HERE you will find expert tips on how to protect your eyes.
