Located directly at the iconic Tahrir Square, on the seventh floor of a nine-storey building is the 100 - 110 m² apartment, belonging to a German-Italian lady who grew up in Cairo and has been commuting between Egypt and Europe for over 40 years. The apartment was completely renovated in 2022/23 and furnished in a mixture of Art Deco and Ottoman style elements. Almost all the decorative objects are antiques acquired over many years, and the authentic furniture has been lovingly restored by traditional craftsmen. From the original 60s and 70s movie poster prints, to the North African and Persian carpets laid out, to the rare books in stylish display cases, mouth-blown glass and ceiling lamps from the 1920s, the accommodation impresses with its oriental ambience and outstanding location, right in "Downtown Cairo".
Beatrice is the owner of the entire building, which has two elevators and, in addition to the apartment and her private accommodation, houses a number of small, discreet offices. The Egyptian Museum is only a few meters away, the banks of the Nile are about 500 meters away and the metro station at Tahrir Square is just a stone's throw away. The windows of the apartment are not soundproofed, as the original wooden window frames have been retained. A small balcony has an unrestricted view of Tahrir Square and western Cairo, where the sun also sets. Another small balcony has a side view of Tahrir Square. The apartment is designed for self-catering, but there are restaurants (some of which also offer great breakfast), cafés, mini supermarkets, bakeries and stores selling beer and wine within walking distance. Particularly practical: there is a modern café in the same building at street level, where breakfast is served from 08:00 in the morning. A relative information sheet will help you find your way around, and Beatrice will of course also be on hand to give you insider tips, as she knows her way around Cairo exceptionally well.
The apartment consists of a spacious entrance hall, an air-conditioned bedroom of approx. 35 m² with a sitting area and a large double bed, an air-conditioned, spacious salon with integrated living room and dining room overlooking Tahrir Square, a very well-equipped kitchen with a large fridge, a modern stove (city gas), a toaster, a Nespresso machine, an electric kettle and a washing machine, a main bathroom with spacious shower and an additional (second) WC. The bedroom and living room have the original, restored parquet flooring. In the bathroom you will find shower gel, shampoo, soap and high-quality towels and in the kitchen you will find a fruit basket, water, tea & coffee and a snack. Everything is replenished free of charge if required. Daily (or on request) room cleaning and waste separation go without saying. Two powerful electric radiators are available to guests in cold weather. Wifi is quite fast by Egyptian standards and is available free of charge. However, you will not find a TV.
The non-smoking apartment can be occupied by a maximum of two guests (in a double bed) and can be booked exclusively with Beluga Reisen. The apartment is available seasonally from approx. mid-October to the end of May. Other months of the year, on special request.
We offer the accommodation in Cairo in combination with a cultural tour (incl. Luxor with solar eclipse). Rooms without tour, subject to availability, on request.
